(Aztecs had rituals honouring death and the cyclical nature of life. One festival dedicated to Mictecacihuatl, the Goddess of the underworld, included offerings of food and flowers, especially Marigolds - flowers of the dead. These Aztec rituals were subsequently blended with Spanish Catholic influences, forming the celebrations of Dia de los Muertos - Day of the Dead )
